The Castle

The City of Hawthorne had a semi-abandoned building used as a partial police station, but the Moneta Gardens Improvement envisioned a renovated child care center instead. Head Start agencies and the Los Angeles County Office of Education had passed on the opportunity to renovate the building, but Los Angeles Universal Preschool funded the project with the hopes to provide much needed services to the adjacent families, and the community at large. The small 2700 sf building now has two state-of-the-art beautiful classrooms serving up to 40 children. The improved landscape and playground areas are just a portion of the exterior activities that the larger park offers. The architect’s experience and leadership on this project allowed for a finished project that is a pride to all that were involved, and to all it serves.
