A new 12,000 square-foot quality preschool center for 80 children in the City of Avenal, California. The preliminary design was assisted by William McDonough Partners (a firm internationally known for ecologically, socially, and economically intelligent architecture); the project is intended to be environmentally friendly by being contextual and climate responsive, by using heavily insulated wall and roofing systems, chilled-beam systems for cooling, heated hydronic slabs, low gas consumption, photovoltaic panels, low electricity demand and reduced water demand.
